It's been long overdue, but I'm releasing the sources for purrChestrion today. At this point the HW/FW is pretty much done, and since I'm working on plenty of other projects, I'm giving this to the community.
All the files, both for the hardware (KiCad) and the firmware are available in the repository on my Git instance.
While purrChestrion is mainly designed with cat-shaped keyboards in mind, there is quite a realistic possibility that it will work with other toy/cheap keyboards and other instruments that use a key matrix as well.
Edit: Just noticed that it's been nearly a year since I last posted here, and it was about this very project. Note to self: Document more.
